SAN JUAN (2009 FIBA Americas Championship) - Argentina won their fourth straight game at the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship after winning over Mexico by the score of 77-65.
Luis Scola had 25 points, Leo Gutierrez and Federico Kammerichs 14 each for Argentina who enjoy a 4-1 record in the Quarterfinals.
The first quarter ended tied at 17 where the Mexicans were led by Noe Alonzo with 8 points while Roman Gonzalez had 6.
In the second quarter Argentina started with a 9-0 run led by Scola and Paolo Quinteros to take a 26-17 lead with 7:38 left. At the half Argentina finished with a 34-29 lead as Scola was the leader with 13 points and Paolo Quinteros 7.
The combination of Scola, Kammerichs and Prigioni kept Argentina in the lead. In the final ten minutes Leo Gutierrez scored 11 points, including three baskets from long range, to put the final touches on another victory.
Mexico had Gustavo Ayon with 18 points, Noe Alonzo 14, Enrique Zuñiga 12 and Anthony Pedroza 11. The Mexicans are 0-5 and have games against the Dominican Republic and Panama to finish this stage.
